Do you go to your office on Sunday or run your business seven days a week?

The Lord commanded in scripture, "Observe the Sabbath day, to keep it holy, as the Lord your God commanded you. Six days you shall labor and do all your work" (Deuteronomy 5:12-13).

We are destined to burn out when we insist on working seven days a week (except for unusual emergencies, like pulling our cattle out of the ditch or responding to a fire).

God designed our bodies to require rest. Medical studies have shown that lack of rest leads to heart attacks, strokes, and other medical difficulties.

When we ignore God's commandment for rest on the Sabbath, our bodies and minds will begin to fail, slowly at first, then more rapidly. Our work suffers, and we will be unable to work at all when we become disabled or die. If God needed rest, so do we.

Keep the Sabbath, and keep working for the long haul as God intended.
